Based on dissuasion, the Oberthur Cash Protection solution aims at managing valuables transportation from a shop or a bank branch to an accounts department or a central bank.

The Oberthur Cash Protection solution comprises several high technology systems that are fully programmed and under permanent surveillance.

Smart equipments
The container : is used to transport cash in total security. It is programmed (by keying in the destination code and the amount) to be delivered at a given point and will only be accepted by that point. The containers are thus locked; their electronic components, the different sensors and software in the containers enable them to permanently control their status and automatically and immediately degrade their contents in the event of an anomaly or break-in attempt.

The vehicle : is unmarked, soft-skinned and equipped with a modular structure adapted to the size of the delivery route for the storage and the securization of the containers. This structure, combined with an on-board computer and terminal, identifies each container and its destination.

The station : is a piece of equipment with variable capacity, designed to manage the Oberthur Cash Protection containers by placing, opening, filling, programming and storing them.

  • The central station (situated on the transporter’s premises or at the bank headquarters) receives and fills the containers, and programs their final destination.
  • The peripheral station : the peripheral docking station is placed in a bank branch or in a store. It receives the container and enables it to recognize its delivery site. Then it allows the container to be opened in a time-locked secure storage phase.

Principle of the delivery route
During his delivery route, the security agent has a limited amount of time to reach the vehicle with the containers and carry out his delivery route. The containers are connected to the main structure and transmit their destination to the on-board computer.

Once the destination has been reached, the security agent selects the location to be delivered on his terminal. The containers to be left at that place check the geographical location of the vehicle, and if it is correct, a light identifies them and their mechanism is unlocked. The security agent can then proceed to remove and deliver the contents to the recipient.

The degradation
The degradation process is an explosion inside the container that permanently stains in less than two milliseconds the entire content with an indelible ink on at least 20% of each banknote surface.

Degradation can be triggered by the following :

  • Exceeding the "pavement time" (in the event of theft)
  • Unauthorized uplifting (in the event of forced removal from the vehicle or station)
  • Forced opening of the container shell (in the event of a break-in)
  • Any attempt to drill the container shell (an attempt to neutralize).

Continuous development of new applications
Oberthur Cash Protection continuously develops new solutions to answer its customers need in terms of security.

Among them, Oberthur Cash Protection offers :

  • An « end-to-end » and « static » securization system for ATM. This technology enables to deliver the total number of ATM through all nationwide users networks and to protect their funds against attack or theft attempts during the transit and the storing in ATM.
  • A securization system for the delivery of Postal branches (article 22), the Axypost solution.
  • An identification system with smart card enabling the customer to unlock the container, the Oberthur Cash Protection system.
These solutions are all based on the core of the adjustable Oberthur Cash Protection system and its high technology equipments.
